The Snow Factories of Peak 9

If you’ve skied Peak 9 near the Village at Breckenridge, you’ve probably seen a few of the bright yellow TechnoAlpin TT10 snowguns standing watch along the slopes. While they may look like simple snowmaking machines, they’re actually packed with some impressive technology. TechnoAlpin designed the TT10 to combine high snow production, energy efficiency, and ease of maintenance in one platform. The units are mounted on innovative tilting towers that allow technicians to perform maintenance safely from ground level while still benefiting from the increased snow coverage that comes from an elevated position.

These snowguns can push up to 175 gallons of water per minute under the right conditions and can be equipped with onboard weather stations that continuously monitor temperature and humidity. That data helps operators optimize snow production and make the most efficient use of water and energy resources. The TT10 can also be remotely monitored and controlled from a central snowmaking system, allowing crews to respond quickly as mountain weather changes.

For skiers and riders, all of that technology translates into a longer season and more reliable snow coverage. The TT10s on Peak 9 help Breckenridge build and maintain quality snow earlier in the winter and later into the spring, keeping more terrain open and conditions more consistent throughout the season.
